There are two methods to discover your network: Import Files and Discover. The network discovery process produces a live Digital Twin of the network, including device details (hostname, properties, configurations), Topology for Layer 2 and Layer 3 neighbors, and Path analysis for ACL, QoS, Multicast, and NAT. It includes Benchmark for initial discovery using seed IPs, Discovery for identifying devices and network components, and Live Data for real-time collection from traditional and new tech devices (ACI, AWS, etc.). The ADT dataset captures raw configuration and command data, while the Import File Wizard and All Devices Baseline Dataset facilitate data management. Offline data options and methods for live network discovery or offline data import ensure a comprehensive and efficient network mapping and management approach.
Import Files
As an abstraction of your network, import a dataset containing config files and CLI of your network to create a virtual Digital Twin, or live model, of your network. Build a dataset of imported data including device hostnames and list of commands to use for automated network assessments. Generate output as maps and inventory reports.
Verify Imported Device Data
Global search looks into the config files to locate lines with the specific configuration.
Scan Live Network
Live Network Discovery maps your network devices into the platform, delivering a granular view of your entire infrastructure.
The goal is to ensure every managed device is discovered and accounted for. For traditional devices, NetBrain offers five access modes: SNMP and Telnet, SNMP and SSH, SNMP and Telnet/SSH, SNMP and SSH/Telnet, and SNMP Only.
With L2 data imported, search for a device and extend its L3 topology on the map.
Explore Device Info
Drill down into any device on the map to see its imported properties, configuration files, and CLI commands.
Captures detailed inventory data for your entire network, including devices, modules, interfaces, sites, and more. Whether you need a quick snapshot or a tailored analysis, use built-in reports as ready-to-go templates or customize your own by defining device scope and asset data.
With the Inventory Report, you get a complete, organized view of your network assets—making management, planning, and troubleshooting easier.
Types of Inventory Reports
Export Reports
Export an inventory report in just a click to produce an Excel or CSV file.
